Best Architectural Concepts to Help Sustain the Environment
We regularly see architectural designs coming from various designers and design houses that are not just unique but also help in sustaining the environment. We list here five such architectural concepts, which strive to make out lives better while being environmentally friendly.
Algae Airships and Airborne Cities:
With one part of the aircraft built as a city and other part as floating farms for generation of hydrogen, this architecture looks like a fleet of aircrafts, which would be self-sufficient. These algae producing airborne cities will have zero emissions and will be capable of generating hydrogen gas. These airships would grow a special type of seaweed capable of soaking up CO2 and sunlight to generate hydrogen.
Annually huge amount of trash gets into the ocean with almost 80% of it being land based and the rest ocean based. The ocean currents accumulate such plastic waste in certain areas of the ocean. One such location where this plastic waste accumulates is the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre where ocean currents result in a formation called Great Pacific Garbage Patch, which is about two times of the size of Texas.
Seawer is an architectural project that aims to create a drainage hole, 300 meter deep and 550 meter wide, in the middle of this garbage patch. Seawer will have five layers of filters to collect the plastic particles and recycle them.
It consists of a cluster of ecological structures in the desert designed to work as facilities for undertaking scientific research. Every building features a main sand tower made using a process that utilizes 3D printers powered by solar energy. The top structure has spiral skeleton form with dual funnel model for improving cross ventilation as well as assist water condensation due to temperature differences at the top.
It is a futuristic architectural plan that will feature a number of self-sufficient buildings to help sustain the environment. The outer section of the architectural plan would include diamond shaped steel panels to provide strength to the structure, while the inside area would feature about 150 stories with flying shuttles replacing the lifts. The project would accommodate around 6,000 residents after completion.
Designers and scientists are hypothesizing a material to capture carbon dioxide and create solid, self-propagating structures out of it. This material would be used to create skyscrapers, which grow themselves.
